Licensing and support for Adult Foster Homes

Cascades West oversees Adult Foster Homes (AFHs) in Linn, Benton, and Lincoln counties, ensuring they meet Oregon’s licensing and care standards. AFHs provide room, board, and varying levels of personal care for older adults and adults with physical disabilities in a home-like setting.

What is an Adult Foster Home?

Adult Foster Homes provide room, board, and varying levels of personal care in a private home setting. Care is provided by qualified caregivers in a licensed care setting and may range from minimal assistance to more involved personal care and coordination with healthcare professionals.

Adult Foster Homes may serve individuals who:

  • Are age 65 or older
  • Are adults with physical disabilities
  • Need help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, medication management, or meals

AFHs emphasize independence, choice, and quality of life while offering a supportive and caring environment. Homes may serve Medicaid consumers, private pay residents, or both.

Cascades West serves as the local licensing authority for Adult Foster Homes in Linn, Benton, and Lincoln counties. Our role is to help ensure Adult Foster Homes meet Oregon’s standards for safety, care, and accountability.
